As BrainLink is a wearable device that makes direct contact with the body, its detachable sensor headband is subject to natural wear and tear. The actual service life of the accessory depends primarily on your usage frequency and duration.
Expected Service Life
Regular Use: With a frequency of 1-2 times per week and less than one hour per session, the typical lifespan of the sensor headband is 6 to 8 months or more.
High-Frequency Use: If used more than 10 times daily, cumulatively exceeding 5 hours, the aging process of the accessory will accelerate. Under such intensive use, we recommend planning for a replacement within 1 to 2 months.
Replacement Indicators
Beyond usage duration, you can determine if a replacement is needed by checking for the following signs:
Oxidized Metal Contacts: Perspiration can cause the gold-plated metal contacts to oxidize (turning black) or wear off. This compromises signal stability and may cause skin irritation.
Loose USB Port: Frequent plugging and unplugging of the charging cable can lead to a loose, displaced, or detached USB port, potentially causing short circuits and unstable EEG data transmission.
Deteriorated Strap Elasticity/Grip: Weakened strap elasticity or detachment of the inner non-slip silicone dots can prevent the headband from fitting your head shape securely, affecting stability and comfort.
General Surface Wear: Surface damage such as peeling, breaks, or severe erosion from sweat. You can decide whether to replace it based on the impact on the core functionality and personal hygiene.

Please note that, as a consumable item, the headband sensor accessory is covered under China's electronics warranty policy as follows: A single free replacement is provided within the 6-month warranty period. Beyond the warranty period, replacement services will be charged at the market price of the accessory.
